As the year draws towards its end, many of us are starting to think about New Year’s resolutions; whilst some decide to get fit, lose weight, quit smoking or the like, others look towards their home. If your house is looking a little dated or tired, then the New Year could be a fabulous time to transform it into the home of your dreams.
If you’re looking for some inspiration, then you could choose to draw upon the Pantone colour of the year. Every year, the Pantone Institute choose a colour of the year which influences designers in all walks of life, from fashion to graphic design and, of course, interiors. Using the colour of the year is an excellent way to ensure that your decor is absolutely current! For 2015 the colour is Marsala, a sumptuous wine red which is perfect for evoking style and natural richness, so why not consider…
Marsala and Slate
For a striking and dramatic effect, you could pair the Marsala colour with natural slate wall tiles; perfect for elegant dining areas and ideal for large rooms which get a lot of light. One way to do this would be to use the tiles for your splashback or a feature area, with Marsala as the accent paint colour. You could also choose the slate tiles for your walls and the Marsala colour as your feature colour in furniture and accessories.
Marsala and Marble
For rooms which are smaller or which don’t benefit from as much natural light, you would need to complement the rich Marsala colour with something lighter and brighter, in order to open up the space and draw the light in. Marble floor tiles would be an excellent choice, as they share the same qualities of luxury and earthiness and whilst they are a beautiful light colour they aren’t too cold or stark looking.
Tiles are an excellent way to transform kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and more, providing you with a beautiful and hard-wearing surface that is easy to clean and maintain.
