Lancashire’s Roccia tiles, bathrooms and kitchens have won the TTA award for Best Commercial Project (Small) Winner 2019 for their creatively unique collaboration with geometric expert Eric Broug. The collaboration saw Roccia and Eric Broug designing and creating an external wall installation for the Zakaria community and educational centre in Dewsbury.
The wall installation will bring a multicultural colourful backdrop to the community and will inspire people to inquire about its origin, design, technical complexity and hopefully go on to create their own masterpieces.
The award-winning project was brought to life using Roccia’s knowledge and expertise of tiles, and contains just under 4000 pieces with 32 different shapes, 12 unique shapes and 19 different colours. Taking over a year to complete from designing to installing, the project is a unique homage to the great Moroccan architect of the 16th century. The installation is 4 metres by 9 meters and is the only of its kind in Europe, it is due to be unveiled late Summer 2019.
The Zakaria wall installation is not Roccia’s first creatively unique project with past artworks including a must see mosaic replica of Manchester’s world renown artist LS Lowry’s painting “Going to the Match” proudly displayed in the Roccia’s Bolton Showroom as well as a mosaic recreation of Preston’s sporting legend Tom Finney’s the iconic “Splash”. Come and visit the showrooms to see this and much more.
