The tile is an incredibly versatile product; there are many types of tiles to choose from and you can use them all around your home. One of the most popular tiles to use in the home is the porcelain tile, but what is it about the porcelain tile that everyone seems to love?  Well, here at Tile Mart we’re going to use our years of expertise to tell you all about the plus points of porcelain tiles.

What are porcelain tiles made of?

The porcelain tile is a form of ceramic tile, the clay that is used has fine and dense properties. This type of tile is incredibly durable, and it is extremely scratch resistant.

A few porcelain facts:

  • Porcelain tiles are harder than granite.
  • Porcelain is fired in a kiln at temperatures of 1,200 °C (2,192 °F) and 1,400 °C (2,552 °F).
  • The colour of porcelain runs down through the entire tile.

Where can porcelain tiles be used?

Thanks to its durable qualities porcelain can be used anywhere; they can be used to decorate your kitchen, your bathroom, utility room, conservatory or even your garage. Porcelain wall tiles look excellent when used in the bathroom especially around the shower or bath. This type of tile is truly beautiful and comes in a variety of natural tones and hues. If you’re looking to add a little touch of class to your kitchen a porcelain splash back would look truly spectacular. Porcelain tiles can make you home look contemporary or rustic – whatever aesthetic or theme you’re after, porcelain can provide you with what you desire.

Are they easy to clean?

Porcelain tiles are exceptionally easy to clean as they absorb very little moisture. Spills or stains can be simply wiped away with an everyday cloth. This style of tile looks magnificent without much effort at all. A mild bathroom cleaner mixed with warm water will clean up the majority of, if not all, dirt or marks that normally happen.
