2015 Colour Trends – Blue

As you may have noticed from our recent blog post on Pantone’s colour predictions for the coming year, blue is a recurring theme in the palette, in a variety of shades. Not only does it feature in the year’s biggest trends, but it is a great complementary colour for many of the other predictions. Blue is an easy and flexible colour to use in any room of the house, so grab a tin of paint, a few tiles, and start your home transformation!

Kitchen

For a bold look in your kitchen, why not opt for a darker blue that brings character and drama to the room. Team that up with whites and you have a fantastic look which is reminiscent of willow patterned plates. Dark blue units would look great with a clean, white tiled wall or worktop as it will really make the bold colour pop.

Bathroom

Your bathroom should be one of the most relaxing places in your house, so you want that to be represented in the design of the room. Choose a soft colour that will have a calming and soothing influence such as a duck egg or baby blue. Again, this colour goes particularly well with white, which is perfect for the bathroom as it offers a clean and simple look. White porcelain floor tiles would look fantastic alongside this cool colour.

Living Room

As we’ve previously mentioned, blue is a calming and soothing colour, so using it in the living room is to be encouraged! The majority of blue living rooms you may see will probably be in pale, soft shades, but if you really want to make an impression, try out a bold and bright tone that will turn your living space into a statement room. One of the great things about using blue is the fact that it mixes well with just about any other colour, so you can play about with bright furnishings, ornaments and flowers to find your perfect look.
