Kitchen Hacks from the Experts (Part 2)

We know what it’s like when you come home from a long day at work and you’re left to cook, which inevitably results in some cleaning up too. Some people love the challenge, but others prefer the thought of running a bath and reading a novel to unwind at the end of the day.

If you fall into the latter category, we thought we’d follow on from part one of our kitchen hacks from the experts to make your life a little bit easier!

Keep Cleaning to a Minimum

We all know what it’s like when you spill a drink or splatter some food onto the floor while you’re cooking; cleaning it is just one more job to add to your ever growing list of things to do!

To prevent the feeling of dread if you splash some pasta sauce, deck your room out with kitchen floor tiles. This will make wiping surfaces a lot easier for little spillages and a weekly mop leaves you with a low maintenance flooring option that looks rather gorgeous!

Make More Use of Your Freezer

There is an abundance of things that you can freeze to make your life a lot easier that far expands your food choices.

For instance, why not pop some herbs and olive oil into an ice cube tray and freeze them. This will allow you to easily add delicious flavours to your pasta sauces, without the herbs falling victim to freezer burn.

Prep Your Food the Fast Way

Use a straw to remove the hull from your strawberries, use an apple slicer to chop your potatoes and peel your garlic by smashing it with the bottom of a bowl then shake them loose in a Tupperware box.

Use Your Teabags for More Than a Brew

Most people love a good cup of tea, especially during the winter months, so you’ll be happy to hear that their usefulness far extends a delicious hot beverage. Once a teabag has been used, it absorbs other flavours and smells as it would water. So if you have a fridge that smells less than fresh, pop a used teabag in a dish inside then dispose of it after a few hours!

You can also use them to keep your plants healthy; simply split open a bag or two and place the leaves into the soil.
